What's new in JDK 15

JDK 15 GA is out, with a long list of changes:

  • text blocks (multi-line string literals) are finally here — hooray
  • ZGC and Shenandoah graduated from experimental to production
  • the Nashorn JavaScript engine is gone
  • the legacy Datagram (UDP) socket code was rewritten
  • biased locking and RMI Activation were disabled and anathematized
  • the EdDSA digital-signature algorithm was added
  • sealed classes in Preview
  • pattern matching in Second Preview
  • the foreign-memory access API in Second Incubator
  • records in Second Preview
  • hidden classes, usable only via reflection
  • Solaris and SPARC support is no more
